Way to go Singapore!

-->
This year, 2015, Singapore celebrates its 50th anniversary.   The Republic of Singapore located in Southeast Asia is a major financial center, home to one of the five busiest ports in the world and according to a recent article in the Economist is the easiest place in the world to do business.

The Economist Intelligence Unit,( www.eiu.com/) a sister company to the Economist magazine conducted a study of business trends across 82 countries, looking out to 2019.  (Areas studied included politics, the economy, policy towards free enterprise among others).  Using the results of their research they ranked the countries as the most/least attractive places to do business.  Joining Singapore in the top ten “best” are Switzerland, Australia, Canada, the United States, Denmark, New Zealand, Finland and Germany.  At the bottom of the list:  Angola, Venezuela and Libya.

Thinking that one survey isn’t enough to make you pack your bags and head to Singapore?  You may be encouraged to book a flight to do some in person research after checking the World Bank Group’s Doing Business report. http://www.doingbusiness.org/rankings. They too rank Singapore #1 for Ease of Doing Business.  Their top 10 includes five from the Economist’s top ten list:  New Zealand, Denmark, the United States, Finland and Australia.  Their other five? Hong Kong, South Korea, Norway, and the United Kingdom.

Congratulations Singapore and Happy Birthday too.
